Today you drive comfortably along the Riviera Maya towards Tulum. We recommend stopping at the beautiful Akumal Beach to refresh yourself in the turquoise sea. Akumal is one of the most beautiful beaches in Mexico and is a popular sea turtle watching spot.
Afterwards you will visit the picturesque ruins of Tulum. The El Castillo temple rises particularly majestically into the Caribbean Sea and is a popular photo and postcard motif.

Today you’ll experience a half-day tour that combines snorkeling on the Mesoamerican coral reef with a fantastic private cenote.
The tour starts at the meeting point in the center of Tulum. From there you drive to the boat dock and to one of the best snorkeling spots in the Riviera Maya. There you will be amazed by the colorful variety of healthy corals, tropical fish, stingrays and sea turtles. This activity takes place in a beautiful bay to avoid strong waves and currents, making snorkeling safe and easy.
Afterwards, another highlight awaits you: snorkeling in a private cenote. The cenotes are one of the most attractive features of the landscape of the Yucatan Peninsula. These amazing freshwater caves are home to magnificent limestone formations, stalactites and columns. But above all, the fact that they are flooded with rainwater is what makes them so special: the color and clarity of the water is phenomenal, creating reflections, lighting effects and a mystical feeling. It is not without reason that the cenotes are sacred to the Mayan tribes and are considered the gateway to the underworld.
You will visit a unique cave where you can admire the different formations and learn about their development process by walking through the cave approximately 600 m underground. This is the perfect setting to learn the meaning and importance of these caves to the people of the Yucatan Peninsula. During the first part of the cave you will walk through about 1m of water until you come to an area where natural light comes through, allowing you to swim in deeper water with natural light. This is a truly magical and for some a spiritual journey through the Mayan world.

Today your Yucatan family trip continues and you set off for the picturesque colonial town of Valladolid.
On the way there you will visit the Punta Laguna Natural Park, very close to Valladolid.
In this park the whole family can enjoy a wonderful time in the middle of Mexico’s untouched nature. The natural park is run by the surrounding Mayan communities, who are dedicated to preserving their unique Mayan jungles.
There are many activities to choose from in the Punta Laguna Jungle Reserve, such as kayaking or canoeing, swimming in the wonderful lagoon, relaxing or hiking on the nature trails. One of the highlights of Punta Laguna are the lovable little muriquis, also known as woolly spider monkeys, which are native there and easy to observe.

Depart early this morning for the nature reserve of Rio Lagartos. There the journey continues by boat through the still mostly untouched nature. In addition to a very diverse flora and fauna such as eagles, herons, crocodiles, etc., the nature reserve is home to pink flamingos all year round, which gather and breed there in sometimes very large colonies.
After a strengthening lunch (optional), you stop at the largest salt factory in Mexico and you can see the pink lake “Las Coloradas” in front of you, which looks most beautiful in strong sunlight at lunchtime (the pink color of the lake depends heavily on the weather and salt production of the nearby salt works). This salt lake gets its bright pink color due to various sediments, minerals, the high salt content due to the adjacent salt works and thanks to some special types of cancer.
After an eventful day, you drive back to your hotel in Valladolid.

Today visit Chichen Itza – one of the seven new wonders of the world and the most important temple complex in Mexico after Teotihuacán near Mexico City.
The ancient city of ChichĂ©n Itzá was the most important capital of the Mayas during the Classic period (600-750 AD). Many of the city’s ancient ruins still stand today – including the famous El Castillo, or Temple of Kukulcán, a massive step pyramid that dominates the city center. The impressive ruins have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Also take enough time to explore the sacred cenote and the planetarium.

At the given time you will drive back to CancĂşn today and return your rental car there. Then you take the ferry and go to the dream island of Isla Mujeres. There you can enjoy your beach holiday and have a great time together as a family over the next few days.
The beautiful beaches of Isla Mujeres (e.g. Playa Norte) have been among the most beautiful beaches in the world for years. Feel the fine white sandy beach under your feet, the pleasantly warm Mexican sun on your skin and refresh yourself in the clear Caribbean Sea.
